Decision in the 64th minute: SC Bern defeated the SCL Tigers 5:4 after extra time.

It became apparent in the third third of the “Tatzenderby” between the SCL Tigers and SC Bern. The home team in the Ilfishalle – at that moment still trailing 3:4 – pushed hard for the equalizer. In the 45th minute, the Emmental team rewarded themselves for a strong start to the final third. Flavio Dirt reacted quickest to a shot from Juuso Riikola and beat Adam Reideborn from close range.

The game went well for most of the 6,000 fans in the stadium. The SCB tried to react, but coach Thierry Paterlini’s team remained rebellious. The twelfth-placed team from Emmental demanded everything from fourth-placed Bern and fought their way into extra time.

In this case, the people of Bern pushed for the decision. At first Marco Lehmann failed alone in front of Stéphane Charlin, but shortly afterwards Dominik Kahun did better. The German caught the Langnau goalkeeper between the schooners and put the final point in an entertaining game. 9 different goal scorers were responsible for the goals.

Early Bernese double strike

The game was tough right from the start. After just 223 seconds, the “Mutzen” led 2-0. Lehmann in the power play and Simon Moser with a hammer put the favorite on the supposed road to victory early on. Coach Paterlini was already forced to call a timeout, but didn’t say a word to his men. The message still got through. The Tigers woke up from their lethargy and got on the scoreboard in the 7th minute through Sean Malone.

The home team showed morale throughout the game. After Joel Vermin restored the two-goal lead shortly after half-time, Saku Mäenalanen made it 2-3 (32′). The scoring continued with 2 more goals before the second break. However, the Langnau team were never able to equalize – until the 45th minute. In the end, the favorite still celebrated.
