- Schleswig-Holstein is foregoing the speed camera marathon, but is taking part in Speed Week.

In many EU countries as well as in Germany, the Blitzmarathon 2024 will take place on April 19th, the highlight of the so-called Speed Week. With the help of increased speed cameras, the police want to take speeding cars out of traffic across the EU. Compliance with the applicable speed limits is fundamental, but even more so on this day, it is the top priority.
No speed camera marathon in Schleswig-Holstein
In Schleswig-Holstein, drivers do not have to prepare for a speed camera marathon on April 19th, but the federal state is still taking part April 15th to 21st on the so-called Speed Week. It is therefore advisable to avoid speeding during the specified period and also in general. However, the police in the state have not announced specific measuring points in advance. However, as in the past, the focus is likely to be on danger zones such as schools, daycare centers, retirement homes and accident hotspots.
As the Lübecker Nachrichten reports, the police will also intensify their controls on the motorways that run through the state (A1 and A20).
Although there is no information about measuring points, you should avoid using speed camera apps. There is now no longer a gray area for passengers – their use is illegal for both drivers and passengers. Anyone caught using such an app risks a fine. What is allowed: You can use your cell phone to locate speed cameras before you start your journey or during breaks. Speed camera warnings via radio stations are also permitted.
