This weekend took place SpeeDons 2024the fourth edition of the marathon speedruns charity event organized by Xavier “mistermv” Dang. From Thursday evening to Sunday, midnight, the players chained together speedruns to finish a bunch of games as quickly as possible and raise money for Doctors of the World.
In 2023, SpeeDons had collected €1,252,637, but this year, the community was particularly generous and managed to raise €2,066,663 for Doctors of the World. A new record for the event which took place like clockwork, Sonic Frontiers has Super Metroid passing through runs just as impressive as Baldur’s Gate 3 without a bear, DOOM Eternal, Death’s Door, Bread & Fred with cooperation pixel perfect, Metal Gear Solid in a Nanardesque French version, Aladdin, Halo Infinite, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX And Tears of the Kingdom, Furi (including a blindfolded boss!) or even Half-Life and his bunny hop vetiginous.
Between online and on-site donations at the Lyon Convention Center and the sale of t-shirts, SpeeDons will therefore have exceeded the two million euros collected. mistermv We are already looking forward to seeing you next year for a future edition., we will obviously have to wait to find out the dates.
