Spencer Davis: Rock musician dies at the age of 81

Rock musician Spencer Davis died on Monday at the age of 81 of complications from pneumonia, his agent confirmed on Tuesday.

Welsh rock musician Spencer Davis (1939-2020) is dead. He died in hospital on October 19th of complications from pneumonia. His agent Bob Kirk confirmed this to the music magazine "Rolling Stone" on Tuesday. "He was a very good friend," said Birk. "He was a very ethical, very talented, kind-hearted, extremely intelligent and generous man." The co-founder of the band named after him, The Spencer Davis Group (since 1963) was 81 years old.

The Spencer Davis Group became world-famous with hits like "Keep on Running" (1965), "Gimme Some Loving" (1966) and "I'm a Man" (1967). In the mid-1990s, guitarist Spencer Davis also joined the supergroup World Classic Rockers, which included Paul McCartney (78), Randy Meisner (74) from the Eagles and Bobby Kimball (74) from Toto.

Spencer Davis leaves behind his partner and three grown children.
