Spider-Man 2 closes the PlayStation Showcase with its gameplay

This year’s big flagship from Sony is called Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Extremely discreet since a very small video to announce it in September 2021, the little baby from Insomniac Games was entitled to the greatest of honors. Take the final seat of the PlayStation Showcase to unveil a lengthy gameplay sequence. And specify its release in the fall of 2023.

12 minutes therefore to see in action Peter Parker – but parasitized by Venom – and Miles Morales, plagued by Kraven the hunter. The first Spider-Man, symbiote oblige, seems to have a gameplay much more focused on brute force, with animations that go in this direction. No question of finesse, but rather of embedding heads in walls.

Miles meanwhile has a much faster and lighter style of play. In particular with the traditional movement with the canvases hung on the skyscrapers, but embellished with a wingsuit to go even faster. Because yes, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 promises to be able to alternate playable characters as you wish, and this almost instantly.

Enough to hope to see some new gameplay ideas slip in. It must be said that the two previous opuses were very pleasant to browse, and of a constant fluidity, but could quickly give the impression of going around in circles. The trailer showing us fights taking place on the Queen’s side, we can already count on a slightly larger map.

Exclusive to the PlayStation 5 (or at least for its first few years before a possible PC arrival), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is expected in the fall of 2023, pending a more specific release date.
