Spider-Man 4 could be totally different from other films

Spider-Man 4 is doomed to a still-changing future. First, Tom Holland wasn’t sure if he would wear the costume again. Then, now, this new twist could completely change the tone of the film.

Spider-Man is by far the most popular superhero in the Marvel franchise. And Disney could really use the services of Spider-Man in these difficult times! Indeed, the studios’ latest productions have not shone at the box office. Spider-Man 4 could well restart the machine after the success of the first three opuses with Tom Holland. However, the future of this feature film does not necessarily look identical to that of its predecessors.

A new director for Spider-Man 4?

Indeed, MyTimetoShineHello, a well-known source for MCU fans, tells us that Jon Watts, the director of the Spider-Man trilogy with Tom Holland, will not work on the next Spider-Man film. This is not his first withdrawal, since he also abandoned the project of the new Fantastic 4 feature film for which he was approached. He preferred to devote himself to the Star Wars animated series The Skeleton Crew. The filmmaker explained this decision by saying he wanted to take a break from superheroes. We can imagine that he leaves Spider-Man 4 aside for the same reasons.

A change of director will necessarily lead to a change of tone for the next feature film. It will depend on who replaces Jon Watts. Many fans are shouting loudly their desire to see the return of Sam Raimi, the man behind the first trilogy with Tobey Maguire, but also more mature films like the original Evil Dead. In addition, the filmmaker has already returned to superheroes with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The latter brought a more adult artistic direction and that’s what Spider-Man fans seem to want. That said, their wish may well be granted in another way.

According to Daniel Richtman, another informant, the new director of Spider-Man 4 would be Drew Goddard. The latter is known for films like The Cabin in the Woods as a director, but also World War Z as a screenwriter. In other words, he is also familiar with more mature artistic directions. He’s no stranger to superheroes either, having also worked on the 2015 Netflix series Daredevil, also more adult, as director and writer. We can therefore very well expect a darker Spider-Man 4 than the previous episodes. After all, the end of Spider-Man No Way Home leaves great story possibilities. It must still be remembered that all these data are only rumors, even if the source is considered reliable, nothing has been confirmed.
