Spider-Man: no release in 2022 for Across the Spider-Verse, the animated film

Expected on October 6 on our screens, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has been postponed for eight months and is now due out in June 2023. That is one month before “Madame Web”, worn by Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney.

To explore the multiverse at the cinema in the company of superheroes this year, it will be necessary to turn to Doctor Strange 2 on May 4. And that’s all. Because Sony has postponed the release of the highly anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse by eight months, initially expected on October 6 in our theaters, and now scheduled for the beginning of June 2023.

An announcement that will inevitably disappoint fans of the first opus, released in 2018 and Oscar winner the following year, which had managed to capture the essence of Spider-Man to transpose it into a story with a new and bold graphic style. Especially since this sequel promised to go even further, with more parallel realities, and a different visual identity for each.

It will therefore be necessary to be patient before finding Miles Morales on the big screen. And the latter will then return at the end of March 2024, with the second part of Across the Spider-Verse, which therefore promises to be particularly epic. But between the two, there will be at least one other Marvel film, the date of which Sony has announced: Madame Web.

Directed by SJ Clarkson, in live action, the feature film is expected on July 7, 2023 in the United States and will be worn by Dakota Johnson. The actress revealed by Fifty Shades of Gray took on the role of Cassandra Webb, a blind and paralyzed woman but endowed with extraordinary abilities such as telepathy or even clairvoyance. Sitting on a cobweb-like throne that keeps her alive, she becomes Spider-Man’s mentor.

If the latter is present, since Madame Web should be part of the saga which already brings together Morbius and the two Venom, and where the Spider-Man shines by his absence. But things can still change, while the film is not yet filming and has only two actresses in its cast: Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney.

The interpreter of Cassie in Euphoria will also be there, but her role has not yet been revealed. And you shouldn’t count on her to say more at the CANNESERIES festival, where she received the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award in April. As with the Spider-Man New Generation sequels, we will therefore have to be patient.
