Recently revealed by artist Phil Saunders, concept art for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” shows a duel between Peter Parker and Doctor Strange in the worlds of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Released in theaters in December 2022, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man’s third adventure starring Tom Holland, quickly rose to the rank of seventh biggest box office success of all time, and totally won over Marvel fans around the world.
If Spider-Man aficionados almost all fell out of their seats at the cinema, it was thanks to THE film’s big surprise…
Forced to ask Doctor Strange for help to make the whole world forget his identity as a superhero, Peter Parker accidentally opened a rift in the multiverse, and attracted into his world not only the villains of previous franchises (the Green Goblin, Octopus, the Sandman, Electro and the Lizard), but also and above all the two previous Spider-Mans, played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
A major twist for all MCU fans. But as artist Phil Saunders, who worked on the film, recently revealed, the spectacle could have been even more monumental.
Indeed, if we are to believe the few concept arts that the illustrator has revealed on the ArtStation websiteNo Way Home could have featured a duel between Peter Parker and Doctor Strange… in the parallel universes of the other two Spider-Mans.
In the drawings posted online by the artist, we can see the two heroes confronting each other in the Chainsaw’s ring (in Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man), on the landing of Peter’s owner (in Spider-Man 2) or around the clock tower (in The Amazing Spider-Man 2).

“One of our first ideas for the chase between Spidey and Dr. Strange across the multiverse was to have them face off during the source of the spell (at that time it was the Book of Vishanti), at through scenes from previous films”explained Phil Saunders.
“We were given a few days to play around with this idea, we took screenshots from the movies and painted Spidey and Doc into them. I liked the idea of taking known shots and changing the gravity and focus of view, so that the characters find themselves in a completely different orientation of the action.”
