The remastered version of Spider-Man, developed by Nixxesstudio acquired by Sony last year, came out on August 12, 2022 on PC, and it’s already a massive success, without too many surprises.
64,893 concurrent players
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC hit a record high yesterday 64,893 simultaneous players, and 58,470 at the time of this writing.
64,893 players is slightly less — less than 10,000 players to be exact — than god of war when it was released on PC, which had reached the 73,529 concurrent players. Horizon Zero Dawnwhich was the first major PlayStation title to make the transition to PC, saw 56,557 players simultaneous at its peak.
A quality remaster
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Ryan Schneider, Head of Franchise Strategy and Studio Relations, Insomniac Gamesexpressed satisfaction with their partnership with Nixxes:
“We are grateful to Nixxes Software, our studio partner at PlayStation Studios, for fully optimizing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PC.[…] Our production team was thrilled with the collaborative spirit and Nixxes commitment to quality. We see ourselves a lot working with Nixxes.»
Jurjen Katsman, founder and director of development of Nixxes studios, also declared to be delighted by the collaboration with Insomniac “I am extremely pleased with our collaboration with Insomniac on Marvel’s Spider-Man series, the shared support between our teams and their dedication to quality above all else is inspiring.” did he declare.
It’s possible that the Spider-Man PC remaster could hit a higher peak concurrent player base very soon.
In any case, for the moment, it is God of War which keeps the first place of the biggest success of a PlayStation game on PC.
Like every week, it treats the side of the Epic Games Store with one or even several free games. You have until August 18 to pick up a little game that will make you the best chef in an America devastated by war.
