Tobey Maguire says he is ready to return as Spider-Man if Marvel offers him.
After taking over the role of Spider-Man in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tobey Maguire says he’s ready to return as Peter Parker.
The actor, who played Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s original trilogy (2002-2007), has never hidden his desire to slip into the superhero costume again, but the creative differences between Sam Raimi and Sony Pictures finally got the better of the fourth film.
In 2012, Andrew Garfield inherited the costume for the films of Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man: the destiny of a Hero before being himself replaced in 2016 by the young Tom Holland.
To the delight of fans, the three interpreters of Spider-Man found themselves in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The website marvel.com was able to speak with Tobey Maguire on the occasion of the release of the book Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special, on February 28, and the latter said he was ready to return as Spider-Man.
Why would I refuse this offer?
The 47-year-old comedian says: “When they called me, I said to myself: “Finally!” I immediately accepted. I was nervous and wondering what this was going to be like and what this experience was going to be like. Being able to work with all these talented and creative people and play together was fun and exciting.“.

He pursues : “I love these films and I like the different series. If Marvel called me up and said, “Are you coming over tonight to hang out and mess around?” or “Would you come to do this movie, read a scene or do something about Spider-Man?”, it would be a “yes”! Why would I refuse this offer?“
Meanwhile, while promoting Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Sam Raimi expressed interest in directing a new Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire.
Last April, he told the Fandango site: “After doing Doctor Strange, I realized that anything was possible in the Marvel Universe, really anything. (…) I don’t really have a story, nor a plan. I don’t know if Marvel would be interested in that at the moment. I don’t know what they think of it. But that would be wonderful.“
Sony and Marvel for their part have made no announcement regarding Spider-Man 4 and a possible return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
