Spike Lee can finally prove his skills as jury president. In 2021, the US director will be in charge of Cannes.

Spike Lee (63, "Pass Over") had to wait for more than a year: At this year's Cannes Film Festival, he will once again have the opportunity to be the head of the jury. The organizers of the festival officially announced this on Tuesday (March 16). The US director should have been the first African American to hold this post last year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event related to the awarding of the Golden Palm had to be canceled.

The ranks of the festival organizers are satisfied with Lee's re-election. "During the months of uncertainty we've just been through, Spike Lee never stopped encouraging us," said Pierre Lescure, president of the Cannes Film Festival. "This support is finally bearing fruit and we could not have wished for a stronger personality to accompany our troubled times." The festival takes place from July 6th to July 17th.
