Splinter Cell: the director of the remake leaves Ubisoft

It’s been nearly 10 years since stealth game fans were treated to a new Splinter Cellthe latest being Blacklistreleased in 2013. Sam Fisher could have made its return to virtual reality with Splinter Cell VR, but the project was cancelled. However, Ubisoft announced at the end of last year a remake of the first opus.

Fans are obviously impatient to discover this title, but here comes bad news: Splinter Cell remake director leaves Ubisoft. On LinkedInDavid Grivel explains that “after more than 11 years at Ubisoft, it is time for me to leave for a new adventure”. Before participating in this highly anticipated project, David Grivel had worked on Ghost Recon: Future Soldier at Ubisoft Paris before flying to Ubisoft Toronto and work on Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin’s Creed Unity or even the Far Cry Primal, 5 and 6.

David Grivel does not yet reveal the content of his new adventures, but for the remake of Splinter Cell, this obviously raises questions. Was the director thanked by Ubisoft as a result of internal creative tensions? For other reasons? Or did he simply seize an unmissable opportunity despite the scale of this remake project? As a reminder, this new version of Splinter Cell does not yet have a release datebut you can find the original opus at €4.99 on GOG.com.
