INTERVIEW

Eric Zemmour wants the elimination of non-anonymity for sponsorships for the presidential election. Invited to Sonia Mabrouk’s microphone this Thursday morning on Europe 1, the presidential candidate appealed to the President of the Association of Mayors of France, David Lisnard.

A democratic measure

“I suggest that he ask the mayors to create a pool of signatures and give the signatures to all the candidates who are at least, I do not know, at 5 or 8% in the polls, it is he who will decide. think it would be a democratic measure and I am not speaking just for myself, “he said.

Like his far-right rival, Marine Le Pen (RN), Eric Zemmour demands the anonymity of mayors and challenges the 2016 law establishing the publication of the names of the candidates’ sponsors, an “iniquitous” text, a “democratic scandal “, resulting in” pressure “on elected officials, he said.

Sponsorships should be “secret”

“The names should no longer mean anything”, advocates the former polemicist, for whom the non-anonymity of sponsorships is a real brake. Eric Zemmour has indeed, for the moment, “only” 300 pledges of sponsorship of mayors, while it takes 500 to be able to run for president.

According to him, some mayors do not dare show their support for him: “For example, yesterday, we called a mayor who said to my team ‘I love Eric Zemmour. I’ve been waiting for this candidacy for 30 years. She is great. I love him, I agree with him. “So we ask him if he is going to give us the sponsorship. And he answers us:” Yes, but you understand, I have a trial made by a green man for a story and I know my judge is on the left, so if he sees my name, I’m going to lose my case. ”

A “perversion of the original law”

Eric Zemmour holds the former President of the Republic François Hollande responsible for this operation. “There was a perversion of the original law by François Hollande in the previous mandate. He made public the names of the mayors. It is a democratic scandal”, gets carried away Eric Zemmour, who believes that this system penalizes several candidates .

“I’m not just thinking of myself. I know that Marine Le Pen also has trouble getting her signatures when she already has 200 or 300 elected. Jean-Luc Mélenchon, too, has trouble,” said he at the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk. For the former polemicist, it would be necessary to give the signatures to all the candidates who reach a certain percentage in the polls. “I propose to David Lisnard to give the signatures to all these candidates, who are at least 5 or 8% in the polls. It would be democratic”. And the former polemicist to conclude by taking the example of Anne Hidalgo, struggling in the polls: “She is less than 5% in the polls. She will have 3,000 sponsorships. Do you find that normal? “, he asks.
