Guest of La Grande interview Europe 1-CNews Thursday, Karl Olive, Renaissance MP for Yvelines, discusses the submission of a report, signed with PS MP Claudia Rouaux, recommending the generalization of sporting activity within the framework of work and warns of the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle.
Reduce chronic illnesses and improve working conditions through sport: Karl Olive, Renaissance MP, and Claudia Rouaux, PS MP, recommend encouraging physical activity in the workplace, pointing to the “favorable” context of the Paris Olympic Games in a report presented this Wednesday. Questioned by Sonia Mabrouk, MP Karl Olive defends the generalization of sporting exercise within the framework of work. “One in five women combine a sedentary lifestyle with sporting inactivity. 95% of work stoppages are due to musculoskeletal disorders,” he explains.
“A culture shock”
The MP takes several experiments at the community level as an example: “In Poissy (Karl Olive is mayor of Poissy, editor’s note), we have offered two hours of sport per week since 2017 to agents as part of working time,” explains -he.
He lists the benefits, according to him, of this experience: improvement in working conditions, social pacification, reduction in absenteeism and nearly 100,000 euros in savings. “I did not need the State, it was a collective will,” explains the MP. It also offers the implementation of a sports ticket provided by companies in the same way as restaurant tickets. Karl Olive calls for a “culture shock” on the issue of sport in our societies.
In January, Emmanuel Macron called on the French to exercise “at least 30 minutes a day”.
