(Boursier.com) — As expected, Everton Football Club will go under the American flag. 777 Partners LLC will acquire 94.1% of the Premier League club from Farhad Moshiri, according to a press release. The agreement comes after months of discussions between the owner and potential buyers of the Liverpool club, which faces financial difficulties off the field but also a series of poor sporting performances.

The American investment company based in Miami is thus setting foot in England, in the richest football league in Europe, after having injected money into several football clubs in the four corners of the planet, from Belgium passing through Brazil, Italy and Germany, where it acquired a majority stake in Hertha Berlin SC.

“Our main aim is to work with fans and stakeholders to develop the sporting and commercial infrastructure for the men’s and women’s teams that will deliver results for future generations of Everton supporters,” said 777. “We committed to working with the local community for the long term, working on important projects such as the development of Bramley-Moore Dock as a world-class stadium.”

Everton FC, one of the founding members of the English Football League in the 1880s, has narrowly avoided relegation over the past two seasons and is off to a disastrous start to the 2023-24 season with just one draw and three defeats. It is one of the rare clubs to have never been relegated to the second division. Everton FC have played at Goodison Park since 1892, making it one of the oldest grounds dedicated specifically to football. But a new state-of-the-art stadium is being built on Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool.
