(Boursier.com) — Centricus Asset Management, along with two hedge fund managers, is reportedly offering more than 3 billion pounds ($3.9 billion) to take over Chelsea. “If our offer is successful, Centricus will focus on ensuring that the CFC Group continues to achieve sporting excellence, a high level of community support, transparent governance, financial sustainability, fan engagement and exemplary management,” the British company said in a statement. According to ‘Bloomberg’ sources, Centricus, which is working on the file with Jonathan Lourie of Cheyne Capital and Bob Finch of Talis Capital, has sent its proposal to The Raine Group, the New York-based investment bank that reviews all offers for the London club.

Chelsea have been put up for sale by Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich after the latter faced British government sanctions for his alleged links to President Vladimir Putin and Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Other big names in private equity are on the case. But the process could be more complicated than expected as the ‘Daily Mail’ reported that R. Abramovich could refuse any offer from a country – including the US and the UK – which has sanctioned Russian oligarchs. Any potential candidate has until Friday to submit their offer.
