  • The Swiss trio in the semifinals missed out on the lead final of the top 6 at the Climbing World Championships in Bern.
  • As the best Swiss, Sascha Lehmann had to be satisfied with 12th place in the supreme discipline.
  • The medal ceremony for women and men will take place on Sunday evening – you will be there live from 6:25 p.m. on SRF info.

As fourth in qualifying, Sascha Lehmann had hoped for a chance to lead in the final in the Postfinance Arena. But in the semi-finals of the Climbing World Championships in Bern, the 25-year-old Swiss couldn’t quite match this performance. Like many other top cracks, Lehmann failed after 26 moves. In the final billing, this brought him a shared 10th place. 29 moves would have been necessary to reach the final.

Jonas Utelli (22nd) and Nino Grünenfelder (24th), the other two Swiss in the 27-man semi-final field, couldn’t have a say in the final qualification either. The best performance came from Brit Toby Roberts, who mastered almost the entire wall and managed 43 moves.

Garnbrett with rare «defeat»

In the women’s category, where Switzerland was not represented in the semi-finals, climber Janja Garnbret had to settle for second place behind Ai Mori (JPN). The Slovenian, who became Boulder World Champion on Saturday, ran out of time – but it will only count on Sunday evening. The two decisions will be made from 6:25 p.m. You can be there live on SRF info.
