Formula One could return to the Nürburgring this season after a seven-year break. That reports "Motorsport-Magazin.com". Accordingly, those responsible for the premier class want the traditional course in the Eifel add to the race calendar as a replacement track. "We are in contact with Formula 1, but there is nothing to report," said a spokesman for the race track to the specialist portal. In 2013 Sebastian Vettel (Heppenheim) won the last Formula 1 race on the Nürburgring on the way to his fourth world championship. Since then, the German Grand Prix has taken place four times in Hockenheim.

The track in Baden-Württemberg was also a candidate as a location, ultimately the plan to bring Formula 1 back failed. So far, only ten World Cup races have been scheduled, most recently Mugello / Italy (September 13) and Sochi / Russia (September 27) were confirmed. The premier class wants to hold at least 15 races. The Nürburgring would be driven in October.
