In the course of doping investigations in "Operation Aderlass", the Innsbruck public prosecutor charged two cross-country skiers and a supervisor from Estonia with suspected sports fraud. As a spokesman for the authority said, cross-country skiers Karel Tammjärv and Andreas Veerpalu have to answer in court. Andreas Veerpalu's father, Andrus Veerpalu, has also been charged. He is accused of aiding and abetting sports fraud.

  • The athletes have been accused of doping their own blood and of taking prohibited substances since the 2016/2017 winter season. In addition, they are said to have wrongly collected sponsorship money of 15,000 euros each.
  • Andrus Veerpalu is said to have made his room available to another athlete for autologous doping at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld 2019.
  • A hearing for Andreas Veerpalu has been set for October 8th. The other two proceedings are not yet scheduled.
  • The International Ski Federation had already sentenced the two cross-country skiers to four-year bans for doping.
