Spotify is pulling the ripcord and discontinuing the separate radio app Spotify Stations from May 15th. The app that users could use to listen to radio stations tailored to them has already disappeared from the Google and Apple app stores. Spotify doesn’t give a reason.
Spotify Stadions: Radio app will be discontinued
The Spotify Stations app, first released in 2018, will no longer be continued. In an e-mail, the music streaming service explains that both the app and the web version of the radio collection already will no longer be available as of May 15, 2022. Spotify Stations can no longer be found in Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The app can still be used until mid-May.
The announcement does not explain why Spotify decided to take this step. However, users of the service are informed that they can choose their favorite radio stations export to Spotify be able. It is not certain how long the export will be possible (source: 9to5Google).
Spotify basically has the Stations app never released from the beta stage and after the regionally limited launch it wasn’t advertised very well either. The later launch in the USA and other countries apparently did not bring the hoped-for success either.

Although Spotify has not given an explicit reason for the discontinuation, the main app is likely to have a lot to do with it. Because users here easily create your own playlists and don’t have to do without recommendations, the added value of Spotify stations is likely to have remained hidden to most. However, some users will miss the simple user interface and the variety of radio stations offered in the future.
