A year after its initial announcement, the arrival of a Hi-Fi offer in CD quality is still awaited on Spotify
.

If the Swedish music streaming platform still intends to satisfy its most demanding audiophiles, it is unable to have a clear vision as to its deployment.

When will Spotify Hi-Fi arrive?

It was one of the big promises of the platform in 2021 and it is still not concrete. At the beginning of last year, Spotify struck a blow by announcing one of its major novelties, a Spotify Hi-Fi formula. A year later, she is still waiting. The Swedish service took the floor last month to announce its postponement “ at an indefinite date and it looks like no one internally has any vision for a possible launch window.

Questioned by investors on the subject, Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify, is himself unable to say when high quality listening will be available. The boss of the Swedish giant explains that, as with many features related to music, his teams are facing negotiations around licensing rights with partners, hence the delay.

In the meantime, Spotify has been beaten to the post by Apple Music and Amazon Music, both offering lossless audio quality across their entire catalog and at no additional cost. Enough to push the market leader to review its position, since the initial project was to offer a Hi-Fi offer in CD quality for a price increase. Since then, Spotify seems to have changed discs and there would be no question of a higher package.

Spotify is number one for a reason. Available on every device imaginable, this audio streaming service has only one flaw: it doesn’t offer CD-quality listening.
