Spotify increases its prices in France: here are the new prices

In war against the new French tax on streaming services, Spotify has chosen to pass it on to the prices of its subscriptions. The Swedish giant does not round up the prices, which can seem very curious in France.

Spotify has carried out its threat: prices are increasing in France. The reason ? “The additional costs of a new tax on music streaming services imposed on us by the French government to finance the National Music Center”explains the Swedish giant in an email sent to its subscribers.

Since March 2024, Spotify has stepped up its interventions to denounce this tax designed to finance the entertainment industry. The company indicates that it cannot absorb the difference, even if it is only 1.2%, and said it was forced to choose between withdrawing from the French market and increasing prices.
