Spy Kids: we know who will replace Antonio Banderas in the new version

Robert Rodriguez seems to have found his new headliners for his reboot of Spy Kids and among them two actors that you surely know… Names to discover immediately!

Spy Kids creator Robert Rodriguez has found his new spy family for the newest take on his popular family adventure franchise. Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi, on the parents’ side, and Everly Carganilla and newcomer Connor Esterson, on the children’s side, are set to star in the next Netflix film, produced in partnership with Skydance and Spyglass.

And it is Robert Rodriguez himself who will write, direct and produce the feature film. Spy Kids will thus be the director’s second family production in collaboration with Netflix after the success of his 2020 action film, We Are the Heroes.

This new chapter in the popular saga will take place after the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful video game developer release a computer virus that gives him control over all technology. An event that will push them to become spies themselves to save their parents… and the world!

Netflix’s growing list of films for all audiences is therefore growing with this new Spy Kids, which will succeed the platform’s other family productions such as Shawn Levy’s Adam Through Time, or the family comedy Yes Day with Jennifer Garner. Also to come, the fantastic adventure Slumberland, directed by Francis Lawrence starring Jason Momoa, Enola Holmes 2, with Millie Bobby Brown in the role of the smart and intrepid detective, or even and the fantastic The School For Good And Evil, with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington. For its part, Skydance will join Netflix again for the next Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot, as well as for blockbusters The Old Guard and 6 Underground.

With three projects in progress, Gina Rodriguez is, for her part, an actress in great demand. The Jane The Virgin star recently landed the lead role in ABC’s comedy Not Dead Yet and has also been tapped to lead Amazon’s Last Known Position. Zachary Levi, meanwhile, is set to reprise his star superhero role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, scheduled for December on our big screens.
