Square Enix Announces Octopath Traveler II

After Triangle Strategy released last March, Square Enix seems to want to return to the origins and unveils the release ofOctopath Traveler II. Planned only on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, the JRPG should see the light of day on February 24, 2023.

Second part of the series Octopath Traveler whose first opus was released in 2018, the title will take us on a journey through the continent of Solistia. We can follow the journey of eight new travelers with completely different origins and talents from each other. But our eight companions – Hikari the swordsman, Agnéa the dancer, Partitio the merchant, Osvald the scholar, Throné the thief, Temeno the priest, Ochette the hunter and Cattsi the apothecary – will soon see their stories intertwine over the course of the adventure.

If the title revives the HD-2D graphics that made the success of the first part of the franchise, it promises an even more worked result by mixing 2D characters with a magnificent 3D world.

On the gameplay side, you will have to use all your strategy and know how to take advantage of enemy weaknesses to win the fights. It will improve the skills of the various companions in Exalted mode. A day/night cycle will also be present, notably influencing the villages and the special actions accessible to each person. Finally the energy reserve will appear in this second opus. It will allow companions to unleash a powerful skill once the gauge is filled during a fight.
