Square Enix confirms the development of a new Dragon Quest Monsters on Switch

And above all, the distribution of this announcement on the English-language communication channels of Dragon Quest leaves little room for doubt: this new Dragon Quest Monsters will be entitled to a worldwide release, which has not always been the case with these spin-offs. Even the most recent Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 never got a chance to leave Japan after its 2016 release on Nintendo 3DS (so not everyone gets a Joker). Developed by Tose, the first Dragon Quest Monsters was released on September 25, 1998 for Game Boy Color in Japan, two years after the birth of the Pokémon phenomenon. The game experienced the joys of an international release in January 2000 under the name Dragon Warrior Monsters by Eidos Interactive, without benefiting from a French translation.

And here is the corny show

25 years later, it’s an understatement to say that the popularity of the Pokémon concept has not lost its luster. Driven by Akira Toriyama’s emblematic bestiary, Square Enix will therefore relaunch Dragon Quest Monsters on the appropriate platform, with a game of capturing, breeding and collecting monsters which will be unveiled later but which should not have any struggling to do better than its cousin Dragon Quest Treasures, which went completely unnoticed outside of Japan. When we see the retrospective proposed here by Square Enix, we say to ourselves in any case that it was time for Dragon Quest Monsters to discover HD, right?
