Square Enix is embarking on a new project that greatly disappoints gamers…

WhileHarvestella is out today or that big titles like Final Fantasy XVI are highly anticipated by the community, it seems that Square Enix has decided to take another path, and it is not necessarily the one that players were hoping for.

Square Enix and NFTs

Square Enix’s interest in NFTs is not new, earlier in the year the company’s management made it clear that the NFT interested them. This time however, the problem goes deeper, Square Enix has announced the 3 november the launch of a new franchise entirely based on NFTs.

Called “SYMBIOGENESIS”, this collectible art project is expected to see the light during the first quarter of 2023. We don’t have any more information on what the project really is at the moment, the trailer not revealing much. Is there really anything to expect from it though?

Between figurine including NFT and the announcement of the incorporation of the blockchain, the players had already faced these announcements which were not unanimous.

Their current system, already heavily criticized, allowed owners of FF7 figurines to benefit from a 3D view of their object, a step between the real collection and the NFT.

The community extremely disappointed

An NFT project is one thing, the big disappointment of players on this one in particular is another. When the internet found out a while ago that Square Enix trademarked the name “Symbiogenesis” a wave of hype had taken the networks by surprise and the theories were mostly in the direction of a sequel to the well-known franchise of Parasitic Eve. The reality is very different.

Many influencers had spoken on the subject and now have to face a big disappointment.

Since their announcement Twitter & Reddit quickly made it clear that the project was not welcome, however, it remains almost certain that Square Enix will bring it to fruition on schedule.

While rumors around Kojima’s various projects are rife, leaks have confirmed certain productions by the Japanese director. This time, the leaked snippets seem to show a horror game. What does Hideo Kojima have in store for us?
