VS’is a relief for owners. Pierre and Maryse Garcia will be able to return to their home in the Estaque district, in Marseille, after having lived for two years in a motorhome due to their tenant’s unpaid rent, reports BFMTV, Monday, October 10. Nadia, the tenant who illegally occupied their accommodation with her 15-year-old daughter, was evicted on Monday after an operation by the police, said the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture.

The former tenant “was offered a shelter solution in a hotel near her former home while waiting for her to find a permanent home,” said the prefecture, according to the news channel. “State services support the former tenant in the constitution of his Dalo file [droit au logement opposable]with a view to examining his request for social housing, ”she said.

A trip that turns into a nightmare

To make a tour of Europe, supposed to be spread over several years, the septuagenarians have rented out their home. Problem: the dream trip must end prematurely, due to health problems. This is where the situation escalates: on their return, the septuagenarians take steps to recover their house. But their tenant refuses.

Worse, the one who is now considered a “squatter” refused for several months to pay her rent as well as the charges. In particular, the owners had to pay the last water bill, amounting to 800 euros. However, it is to prevent their accommodation from being occupied illegally that this couple decided to rent it. A court decision ordered in April by a judge validated the expulsion of the squatter and her daughter, but the police were slow to intervene. The couple claims to have had to agree to 18,000 euros in costs, trials and bailiffs in particular, since the start of this case.
