2024 - SR-C30A: Yamaha's new compact soundbar

For its return, Yamaha reveals a new compact sound bar accompanied by its wireless subwoofer. The SR-C30A relies on its discretion and the virtual 3D surround umpix feature to stand out.

Yamaha has just lifted the veil on its new soundbar which will be released next September: the SR-C30A. It plays the discretion card with a contained template of 60 x 6.4 x .4 cm, exactly the same dimensions as those of the SR-C20A, Yamaha’s other compact soundbar. This format is halfway between the Bose Solo 5 and the Sonos Beam, which allows it to be easily placed near a small television or directly under a PC screen, without sacrificing too much space. The SR-C30A is however lighter than its congener (1.3 kg against 1.8 kg), because it does not have an integrated subwoofer. Instead, the SR-C30A is accompanied by an external wireless box measuring 16 x 33.5 x 36.4 cm for 5.7 kg.

Inside the bar, there is a stereo architecture consisting of two 4.6 cm diameter speakers, powered by 2 x 20 W amplification. The box is equipped with a 13 cm speaker placed on its right side and a bass reflex port on the front. The SR-C30A offers four listening modes: Stereo, Standard, Game and 3D Movie. The latter creates a 3D surround upmix from any source, and would be able to reproduce side and vertical effects for the most immersive experience possible.

On the connection side, the SR-C30A is equipped with two optical S/PDIF inputs, a mini-jack input and an HDMI ARC socket compatible with the CEC protocol (possibility of controlling the bar using the remote control of the TV). The bar also has Bluetooth connectivity. Some features are also on the program, such as Clear Voice which puts more emphasis on the dialogues, or an automatic physiological equalization system used to keep all the content of the sound, even at low volume.
