The catastrophe reports about the heavy rainfall in Styria never end! During the night of Sunday, a mudslide crashed down in St. Johann im Saggautal and even moved houses.
In between, it looked regionally like relaxation again and again – but then it started again in the night on Sunday with heavy rain. The river levels are rising. The inhabitants of St. Johann im Saggautal have also been hit very hard. There was a mudslide in the town center that was so powerful and violent that even houses were moved and some buildings were buried and badly damaged. Fortunately, according to the first reports, no one was injured, the damage is of course enormous. Some of the residents had to be evacuated. It is hoped that the heaviest rain will subside slowly, but further landslides – hundreds have already been recorded – and mudslides are to be feared.
