St. Veit instead of Bavaria – Hinteregger: This is how his debut as an amateur went

St. Veiter Jacques Lemans Arena instead of Allianz Arena in Munich: Martin Hinteregger made his debut as an amateur on Friday in the East Lower League of the Carinthian Football Association. As a striker, the Europa League winner hit the bar in the 0:3 of his home club SGA Sirnitz in front of 1500 spectators shortly before the break.

The former national team defender played for the club in his home town of Sirnitz as a striker. In the first round of the fifth highest division in Austria’s league system, SGA Sirnitz played away in St. Veit. The club received approval for Hinteregger on Thursday. The 29-year-old started playing football with the team from the 300-inhabitant village in Gurktal as a child before moving to the Red Bull Salzburg boarding school at the age of almost 14, where he matured to become a professional. Hinteregger had declared his career as a professional at Eintracht Frankfurt to be over a month ago. The international was in need of explanation after his business relationship with the former FPÖ councilor Heinrich Sickl had been discussed in the media. The Carinthian justified his resignation with motivational problems. Frankfurt decided to suspend his contract, which runs until 2024
