Lhe Champions League final which took place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis on May 28 continues to spark controversy after the organizational fiasco. If the French authorities accused the English supporters of having gone en masse to Paris with counterfeit notes – between 30,000 and 40,000, according to the prefect of police Didier Lallement and Gérald Darmanin, the Minister of the Interior –, the English, they claim to have been “mistreated”, both by the French police, but also by “gangs of local youths” who engaged in assaults and thefts. The Liverpool club claims today to have collected nearly 8,000 testimonials from supporters present in Paris. Some witnesses at the same time confided in social networks.
