“There were inappropriate and disproportionate gestures from police officers or mobile gendarmes,” added the Minister of the Interior. “I personally saw two facts, where public order and the use of tear gas were clearly contrary to the rules of use”, he said again, specifying that he had “asked sanctions from the prefect of police for these two law enforcement officers”.
“Two referrals to the IGPN”, the police force, were made after the incidents during the Champions League final on Saturday, said Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, heard by the Senate Law Commission . These referrals were made by “citizens”, Gérald Darmanin’s entourage told AFP. “There were inappropriate and disproportionate gestures on the part of police officers or mobile gendarmes”, added the Minister of the Interior, before the senators. “I personally saw two facts, where obviously public order and the use of tear gas were contrary to the rules of use”, he said again, specifying that he had “asked for sanctions from the prefect of police” for these two law enforcement officers.
Filmed and posted on social media
These two facts noted by the minister were filmed and broadcast on social networks, said the entourage, without detailing which videos they were.
The Minister also announced that British and Spanish citizens assaulted after the match “will be able to file a complaint in their country from Monday” and also make a referral to the General Inspectorate of the French National Police (IGPN).
