Google is constantly rolling out new features for its Stadia cloud gaming platform, and it should soon receive an update that will improve the touch buttons, but which will also add support for 1440p definition on smartphones.
By dissecting the new APK 4.13 of the Stadia application on smartphones, our colleagues from 9to5Google discovered that it contained many new features. It seems that Google plans to improve the virtual buttons on several games. For those who don’t know, it is possible to play Stadia without a controller, since the platform displays virtual buttons on your phone screen. Getting started can be quite complicated, but it is suitable for those who are used to mobile games.
On the new update, some games will benefit from buttons with custom icons. On the FPS, the A button will for example be replaced by an image of a character jumping, and the triggers by the image of a bullet or a grenade. The buttons would therefore become more instinctive, and thus get closer to other buttons like those of PUBG Mobile. These buttons could for example arrive on the Outriders game from Square Enix, which is part of the Pro games of May 2022.

1440p resolution is coming to mobile
In 2020, a few months after the launch of Stadia, Google had already allowed players to enjoy their games in 1440p definition on Chrome. This allowed players who did not have a 4K screen to enjoy better definition if they subscribed to Stadia Pro and had a compatible screen.
The APK now reveals with the mention ” UPTO_1440P in the source code that 1440p definition should soon be supported on smartphones. This is therefore excellent news for gamers, since most high-end smartphones have screens with a definition greater than 1080p. 9to5Google notes that support for 1440p may also be available on TVs via the Andorid TV app. Lowering the definition from a 4K television might allow games to run a little smoother if your internet connection is not very stable.
