Stadthallen double gig – Robbie Williams: The pop king of Austria

Just not too friendly
Instead of just rewinding hit after hit, Robbie has come up with something special for this tour. He tells his exciting career either in the form of songs or stories, which really got going in 1992 with the boy band Take That and later led to its inevitable end, until he with a mixture of entertainment talent, love of performance and a feel for catchy songs rose to become the biggest solo pop star in Europe for years – only the breakthrough in the USA was never granted to him. This time he doesn’t comment on this failed chapter in his career, but instead he cleverly alternates between the boorish rascal and the emotionally refined. On the one hand, he hugs his fans, takes them from distant seats to the front area, or gets up close and personal with them. On the other hand, he teasingly gives them the cold shoulder, catches them going to the toilet or when they are ignorant when asked whether they are still familiar with the very first Take That video. Carrot and stick, or as we like to say: koit-woam.
