STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, another big hassle for the Ukrainian studio

GSC Game World been developing for years STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, a shooter set in a fictional version of Eastern Europe, with a radioactive region called the Zone. A title awaited by all fans of the franchise, but postponed several times, notably because of the war in Ukraine.

The conflict with Russia pushed the developers to seek safety in Prague, Czech Republic, the studio has occupied these premises since last year in order to continue the design of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. But now GSC Game World announces thata fire affected their offices on September 7. Fortunately, more fear than harm, the fire only affected one of the three floors occupied by the developers, and causing only damage to the building structure, no team members were injured. Damage still estimated at 1.5 million Czech crowns, or around 61,500 euros.

Of course, it’s not a small fire that will stop GSC Game World, but repairs to the building risk further delaying development. As a reminder, Kinetic Game experienced a similar fire a few weeks ago, forcing him to postpone the release of Phasmophobia on consoles and PSVR 2. Concerning STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, it was recently pushed back to the first quarter of 2024, it remains to be seen whether the recent incident will further postpone the release date. You can still pre-order the game at €59.99 on Amazon.
