STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Microsoft cancels pre-orders, developers react

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is obviously eagerly awaited by fans of the franchise of GSC Gamesbut the FPS has been desired for many years. Unfortunately, because of the war in Ukraine, the studio had to pause development and announced that their game won’t be released until 2023with no specific release date.

But for a few hours now, Microsoft begins canceling pre-orders for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl on Xbox Series X|S. Another bad news for gamers? Well no, not especially, GSC Games explains in a press release that these cancellations are normal:

We pushed the game to 2023 with no specific release date. We made this announcement at the E3 Microsoft Extended Show, along with a developer diary and introductory video. Microsoft is refunding pre-orders for games that don’t have a specific release date. When we announce an exact release date, pre-orders will once again be available on Xbox. Pre-orders on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG.com) are not affected.

As with many retailers, Microsoft only allows you to pre-order a game when it has a specific release date, which is no longer the case with STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The development therefore follows its course, no new major postponement is to be expected (for the moment), GSC Games As a reminder, relocated to Prague to finish his game in complete safety, far from the Ukrainian conflict which directly affected him at the start of the year. By the way, the music track Storming was unveiled a few hours ago, you can listen to it above book the game at €59.99 on GOG.com.
