While the release of STALKER 2: The Heart of Chornobyl is still postponed to December 8, 2022, the teams in charge of its development (GSC Game World) unveiled, during the Summer Game Fest, a video showing the reality of war in Ukraine, in which they have been trying to work for several months already.
A complicated development
As said so well Dariya Tsepkovadirector of narration and interviewed for this video: “It’s not easy to write missions as well as violent quests when there is a war going on outside”. The GSC Game World teams have indeed been living in this horror for months. The headquarters in kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, were hit by bombings and had to be deserted.
Some employees left, some unfortunately had to stay. In both cases, the situation of uncertainty and violence only demoralizes them and therefore suffers logically on their work.
According to Andrii Maksiutavoice director: “Every working day starts with alarm sirens”. An atmosphere of terror in which it is difficult to work, moreover on a shooter about a nuclear disaster.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl takes place, as its name suggests, in Chernobyl, the site of the 1986 nuclear disaster. Players are therefore confronted with all kinds of more than aggressive genetic anomalies, but also human in search, just like the protagonists of the story, ofa way to survive…at all costs.
We therefore understand better the regrowth of the release of the game, more than seven months. Some company employees even joined the Ukrainian army and are currently in combat against Russian troops. However, despite their more than tragic situation, the GSC Game World teams deliver a message of hope and assure their community that as soon as this situation is resolved, they will return to work on the game.
STALKER 2 will therefore be released, if all goes as planned, on December 8, on Xbox Series X/S and PC. You will therefore soon be able to go on an adventure in the dark lands of Chernobyl, as soon as the horizon will have cleared up for Ukraine.
