Stressing that this is a debate that comes up “regularly”, Jean-François Copé regrets that “we do not ask the two central questions: ‘The first: what makes there so many queues of parents from all backgrounds to enroll their children in private schools? And why is it that what private school embodies, that is to say demanding education, always generates an irritation on the part of the left?” asks the mayor of Meaux, who claims to see this phenomenon in his commune.
The left “is at the origin of many failed reforms”
“And at the same time, what is it that makes public schools unable, unfortunately, to stop the scourges that we know and denounce? Violence, sometimes Islamist excesses, behavior of unacceptable parents, the fall of authority, problems with educational content and the difficulty of teaching certain subjects such as history. For the mayor of Meaux, the left is partly responsible for these difficulties. “I remind you that when the left was in power even though it was the one who was supposed to be able to do something, because there are connections between the left and the unions, it never actually did “It is at the origin of many failed reforms with this idea that we will fix things by increasing staff numbers and increasing funds,” he says. “As a result, there has never been so much money in public schools.
