“The Devil Wears Prada” star Stanley Tucci makes his cancer public. He was diagnosed three years ago.

“The devil wears Prada” star Stanley Tucci (60) said in an interview with Virgin Atlantic’s on-board magazine “Vera” from which the “New York Post” quotes, reveal that he secretly fought cancer three years ago. Accordingly, the doctors had found a tumor on the base of the tongue that was too big for an operation, so that they had to fight it with high-dose radiation and chemotherapy.

“Cancer scares you more and less at the same time. I feel much older than before the disease. But you still want to move forward and get things done,” said Tucci.

He has already experienced it as a relative

After losing his first wife, Kate Tucci (1962-2009) to breast cancer in 2009, the multi-award-winning US star hoped he would never have to go through the kind of treatments she had to endure. “I made a vow to never do anything like this because my first wife died of cancer and seeing her go through these treatments for years was horrible.”

At the same time, he also gave the all-clear in the interview and stated that it was unlikely that the cancer would return. Nevertheless, it was a difficult time for his children. “The kids were great, but it was hard for them,” he said. “I had a feeding tube for six months. I barely made it through the twins’ high school.”

With Kate he had twins Nicolo and Isabel (21) and daughter Camilla (born 2002). With his current wife (since 2012) Felicity Blunt, he has two younger children, Matteo (6) and Emilia.

In January 2021, Tucci spoke about the loss of his first wife and said: “You never stop mourning.”
