"Star Academy": a former candidate elected city councilor in Saint-Lô: Current Woman Le MAG

From music to the municipality, the route could seem incongruous but an ex-candidate of the star Academy did not hesitate to take the plunge. Some of you may remember Mathieu Johann of the fourth promotion of tele-crochet which made the heyday of TF1. In 2004, he lost in the semi-finals. That year, Grégory Lemarchal won the final hands down and began a career that came to an abrupt end in 2007. The former candidate for the star Academy 4, was elected, at 40, city councilor of Saint-Lô, his hometown, in La Manche, Sunday July 5, 2020. He was on the list of Emmanuelle Lejeune called "For Saint-Lô", an unlabeled list, topped the second round with 43.56% of the vote.

The former companion of Clémence Castel, the double winner of Koh Lanta, from whom he has been separated since 2019, posted on his Instagram account the traditional class photo of the new municipal team. "The start of a new adventure with Emmanuelle Lejeune, first woman Mayor of the prefecture-level city of Saint-Lô", he writes in caption. He also specifies his new status within this group:"I am therefore assistant to cultural life and communication and it’s quite a challenge. Bravo to all the great team. "

"I don't count on politics to live "

It is not his baptism of fire in politics. In 2014, Mathieu Johann had already elected city councilor with François Brière, the former mayor of Saint-Lô, before resigning in 2016, during his mandate, following a disagreement with the elected official. "It is urgent to whistle the end of the recess in place of the first magistrate of the city, unable to act but doing everything to prevent me from working serenely " he wrote in a press release relayed by France 3 Normandie. In addition to his post as city councilor, Louis and Marin's dad is also departmental advisor of La Manche, in charge of promoting the cultural fabric, since March 2015.

Politics ? Not necessarily a career plan as he said, in February 2020, during the municipal campaign, to our colleagues from France Bleu: "I will not stand for re-election in 2021, it's a fact. But if the Saint-Lois trust us in the 2020 municipal elections with Emmanuelle Lejeune, I will continue this political career proudly. Otherwise, I'll move on, I don't count on politics to live."Indeed, Mathieu Johann never gave up his career in music. He became a producer with his label MJO Records. In 2017, he added a string to his bow by becoming collection director at HarperCollins. He is also the instigator from the album tribute to Grégory Lemarchal. Let's stay friend, with a release date scheduled for October 2, 2020, the album brings together most of the former students of the Star Ac 4. Politics and music, the road map is now all laid out for the years to come for Mathieu Johann.
