Star Citizen concludes the year with alpha 3.16

Happy holidays, then, to Chris Roberts and the 700 or so employees who make up the Cloud Imperium Games studio network. A workforce that will continue to grow significantly from spring 2022 with the opening of a huge studio based in Manchester.

With the rollout of alpha 3.16, Cloud Imperium Games is rolling out its new dynamic server-wide event. Named Jumptown 2.0, it takes inspiration from the old PvP event of the same name and pits law enforcement and criminal factions against each other who seek to control the abundance of illegal narcotics. Large-scale battles are to be expected in known and previously unseen environments of the Stanton system, with each team seeking to snatch crates of loot for different reasons.

The update also brings significant improvements to the gameplay of flying motorcycles as well as a new Drake Cutlass Steel battleship, which replaces the space normally reserved for goods with 18 spaces for transporting troops into combat. The vessel does not neglect anything on the artillery side either with its cannons, turrets, lasers and other missiles.

Players more interested in their pilot’s personal development will be looking mostly at PvE content, but it won’t be available until January in Patch 3.16.1. As shown in the video, these are the wrecks of ships that can be explored to unearth their treasures, taking care however to avoid the traps and to solve the puzzles posed by the exploration of these abandoned giants.
