Is “Star Trek 4” going into production soon? After numerous postponements, a new screenwriter has finally been found to finally make the film a reality.

- “Star Trek 4” was actually supposed to continue telling the story of Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto as Kirk and Spock in 2023.
- But many crew members cast in the film left the project before things got serious.
- Now there is a ray of hope: a new screenwriter has been found!
Since its announcement, “Star Trek 4” has caused ups and downs in the emotions of every “Star Trek” fan. The continuation of the film series was announced in 2022 with Chris Pine (“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”) and Zachary Quinto (“American Horror Story”) as Kirk and Spock and since then the film has suffered several setbacks.
However, that now seems to have come to an end, as Paramount says they are in the final stages of announcing the cast of the new film soon. This is possible not least because they have finally found a screenwriter in “The Flight Attendant” creator Steve Yockey.
That’s almost a miracle, because so far at least three attempts to make “Star Trek 4” have failed. Most recently, director Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”) left to work on productions for Marvel. The two screenwriters Lindsey Beer (“The Magic Order”) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel”) also left the project before it could really get started. As a result, the film premiere in 2023 failed.
Steve Yockey’s involvement in “Star Trek 4” can now be seen as a positive sign, because until now the film was just an idea. The screenwriter has a lot of experience and has already written on a wide variety of genres, from the MTV series “Awkward” to the comic adaptation “Dead Boy Detectives”, which will premiere on Netflix in April 2024.
