The new episodes of “Star Trek: Discovery” will come to Germany on November 26th. Pluto TV makes it possible.

Happy news for all Trekkies: after massive complaints from the community, the media group ViacomCBS decided to bring the fourth season of “Star Trek: Discovery” to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other countries ahead of time.

The new episodes will be shown on the sci-fi channel of the free linear streaming platform Pluto TV as early as November 26th (from 9:00 p.m.). At the beginning as a double episode, after that there is a new episode every week. That was via the official “Star Trek” homepage and the associated Twitter account.

This was preceded by the message that the new episodes of “Discovery” will no longer be shown in this country as before via Netflix. The new season is already available in North America via CBS All Access, and in many other countries via the in-house streaming service Paramount +. Because the will only be usable in several countries, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, at the beginning of 2022, fans threatened to look into the tube for several weeks.

“We hear you”

The criticism was taken to heart, it says in the statement. “We hear you. (…) Therefore we are doing everything during this transition to bring the new season to you as soon as possible.”

Pluto TV is a kind of linear Internet television program and is part of ViacomCBS. The service is financed through advertisements during the program, as is the case with conventional television channels. Pluto TV is divided into several content channels such as crime, movies, comedy or kids.
