In “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5, Book sees the villainous Moll as family, so to speak. We explain to you the relationship between the two!

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 introduced two new villains, Moll (Eve Harlow) and L’ak (Elias Toufexis). These not only have Bonnie and Clyde vibes, but also an interesting connection to Book (David Ajala), at least in a minor way.

Moll is a human woman whose real name is Malinne Ravel. Book recognizes from a birthmark that she is the daughter of his mentor, Cleveland Booker IV. After Book’s family died in the destruction of his homeworld Kwejian in season 4, Moll is, in a sense, the last relative Book has.

Book named himself after his mentor

Book’s actual name is Tareckx, named after his father. Book himself couldn’t do much with his family and their way of surviving. His father worked for the Emerald Chain, which we met in “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 3, which plundered and exploited worlds.

Book’s brother

Book also had an adopted brother, Kyheem (Ache Hernandez). Book was able to restore his relationship with him and his son, Leto (Luca Doulgeris), and reconcile with them. However, both died in the DMA’s destruction of Kwejian.

Book turned away from his father and worked as a courier. His mentor was a man named Cleveland Booker IV. The name is considered trustworthy and therefore Book’s mentor was the fourth courier to take the name. When Cleveland Booker IV retired, Book continued the name as Cleveland Booker V.

Book bears the name not only because he is trustworthy in the courier industry, but also out of respect for Cleveland Booker IV. The fact that he has so much admiration for his mentor also explains why he sees Moll as family, so to speak.

What significance does Moll’s relationship with Book have for “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5?

In the fifth episode “Spiegel”, Book does everything she can to convince Moll to leave her criminal career behind. It turns out that Moll doesn’t respond very well to her father, who she believes has abandoned her.

Nevertheless, Book seems to have spoken well to Moll’s conscience. Although she breaks down at the end of the episode, it’s clear that Book’s words about her father loving her had an impact.

Even though “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5 is the final season, that doesn’t mean that the “Star Trek” universe doesn’t have more stories in store for us. In our overview you will find all upcoming “Star Trek” new releases!
