To the fans,
We wanted to let you all know that the fifth and final season of ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ will be released this fall. While five seasons of any series is a miracle these days, it’s no exaggeration to say that every second we spent working on this series was a dream come true. Our incredible cast, crew and artists gave it their all because they love these characters, they love this world we’ve created, and more than anything, we love, love Star Trek. We’re excited for the world to see our insane fifth season we’re currently working on, and the good news is that all previous episodes will remain on Paramount+, so there’s still a lot to look forward to while we’re at it we will celebrate the Cerritos crew with a big farewell.
Lastly: Thank you for being so creative and cheerful, always filling the conventions and celebrating ‘Lower Decks’! We remain hopeful that even after Season 5, Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and the entire Cerritos crew will survive in new adventures.
Live long and in peace, Mike McMahan and Alex Kurtzman

The fact that the statement mentions the possibility that the protagonists could continue to exist in other series of the “Star Trek” universe is refreshing and pleasing. Boimler (Jack Quaid) and Mariner (Tawny Newsome) appeared as live-action versions in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” last year.
