Star Trek: Has La’An’s Fate Been Betrayed?

STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS

“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” may have already hinted at La’An’s fate in the third episode of Season 2. What will happen to her after the series?

La’An Noonien Singh (Christina Chong) is one of the most interesting new characters created especially for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. While her last name is famous, what happens to her after the events of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is completely unknown.

She no longer plays a role in “Starship Enterprise” and all other series that are linked to SNW in the “Star Trek” chronology. In the latest episode “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” the answer could now have been provided.

Star Trek: What Happens to La’An After Strange New Worlds?

In the “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” episode “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” La’An is the center of the plot. In order to repair the timeline, she must journey into the 21st century, not only saving the future but also defying a shadow of her past.

The shadow of her past is, of course, about her tyrannical ancestor, Khan Noonien Singh. Even though she hates him so much, she has to save him and accept him as a part of her. By ensuring Khan’s survival, she also saves the timeline, eventually returning to the 23rd century.

Aboard the Enterprise, La’An is then visited by an agent from the Department of Temporal Investigations. This is most likely from the 24th century and definitely went back in time to visit La’An. She clarifies that La’An is not allowed to tell anyone about her experience. The time agent then disappears again.

Star Trek: Will La’An become a Temporal Operative?

La’An may be left behind by the agent, but that doesn’t mean La’An won’t receive another visit from the Department of Temporal Investigations. The episode may have laid the first cornerstones of La’An’s destiny.

A love affair with Kirk (Paul Wesley) is currently being built. In order to logically explain why La’An is never mentioned again later, something big has to happen. In “Spaceship Enterprise” Kirk doesn’t even know the name Noonien Singh, neither does Uhura and Spock.

So, sooner or later, La’An has to disappear from the scene and best of all wipe a few memories along the way. So it would make perfect sense and logic for her to be recruited by the Department of Temporal Investigations and effectively “erased” from the 23rd century. As a temporal agent, she basically lives between times, bouncing back and forth between timelines.

We shouldn’t expect La’An to be recruited anytime soon, as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 is currently filming and La’An certainly won’t be written off the show until the final season. But we should keep this possibility in mind for them in the future. We list you all “Star Trek” new releases!
