  • Jack Quaid is known from “The Boys” and also voices the leading role in “Star Trek: Lower Decks”.
  • His work on the grotesque superhero satire has left him jaded at obscene scenes.
  • Quaid talks about how his work on The Boys has given him a better ability to handle controversy on Star Trek.

Jack Quaid voices Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks. Most series fans know him as Hughie Campbell from the Amazon hit “The Boys”. The star now reveals how his work on the grotesque superhero parody in the “Star Trek” universe is helping him.

Specifically, it’s about toxic fans and critical voices that are not always factual and polite. There was a scene reminiscent of an orgy in the eighth episode of “Star Trek: Lower Decks” season 2 – and when that episode was released, Quaid was filming the obscene “Herogasm” episode for “The Boys”.

In an interview on the Jessie Gender YouTube channel, he reveals how his work on ‘The Boys’ has become quite deadening to the point that the reviews don’t take him personally anymore. Especially since the “Star Trek” episode “I, Excretus” caused a controversy at Trekkies.

That was an interesting time in my life because of this episode [von ‘Lower Decks’] was released and I was like, ‘I don’t know, I’m on The Boys, they have an orgy in almost every episode, so orgies don’t really bother me anymore. So this episode came out and it was like a week before the controversy started and I kinda didn’t care.

Things that hurt Quaid once and could have hurt him in this context were suddenly irrelevant: “I just come from ‘The Boys’, so it was completely normal for me. […] What is the problem? I see crazier things in my everyday life every day.”
