  • With “Star Trek: Legacy” there is already a spin-off idea for “Star Trek: Picard”.
  • It’s supposed to be about the “Next Century” characters and the “new generation”, i.e. the La Forge sisters and Jack Crusher.
  • Geordi star LeVar Burton is excited about the idea. Since his daughter would play along, this is probably not surprising.

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+. While the first two seasons were met with mixed responses, fans of the “Star Trek” universe are almost unanimously enthusiastic about the third season of “Star Trek: Picard”. Is there a spin-off now?

The idea of a new “Star Trek” series is fluttering through the air: “Star Trek: Legacy”. The idea for the series is for the new generation, i.e. Sidney La Forge (Ashley Sharpe Chestnut), Alandra La Forge (Mica Burton), Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) and possibly Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), with their own series to consider.

In a way, it’s the next generation of the next generation. There should also be room in the series for Picard (Patrick Stewart), Geordi (LeVar Burton) and Co. Showrunner Terry Matalas describes his idea for “Star Trek: Legacy” as follows:

“‘Star Trek: Legacy’ is what I call a spin-off of ‘Star Trek: Picard’. The series is set in the 25th century and explores the last generation and the next…”

The last generation means Picard, Geordi, Worf and Co., who were once the next generation with their series “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” (in English: “The Next Generation”). Now they are passing the baton on to a new next generation.

Fans are excited and it is hoped that a surge in fan enthusiasm and strong viewing figures for Star Trek: Picard will bring the series to life. Similarly, on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, fan pressure (euphoric) pushed Paramount+ to produce the series.

But not only fans are enthusiastic about “Star Trek: Legacy”. Geordi La Forge actor LeVar Burton also likes the idea. He was recently on Whoopi Goldberg’s talk show The View with his actual daughter Mica Burton, who also plays one of the La Forge daughters in Star Trek: Picard.

There he is asked for his opinion on “Star Trek: Legacy” and he is very enthusiastic about the idea: “I’m totally in. Absolutely! What the authors did is that they prepared it well. They have the next Introduced next generation generation. There’s the La Forge sisters, one is an engineer, the other is a pilot, we have Jack Crusher, Seven of Nine. It just makes sense!”

If that doesn’t sound like great support for Terry Matalas. With Star Trek: Picard ending and Star Trek: Discovery canceled, it’s only a matter of time before new Star Trek series are announced. Who knows, maybe Star Trek: Legacy will be there. We list you all confirmed “Star Trek” new releases!
