  • Star Trek: Picard Season 3 brings back the stars of The Next Century.
  • To keep the actors and fans happy, the stars even had a say.
  • An official start date for “Star Trek: Picard” Season 3 has not yet been set. Filming has already been completed.

In “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 there will be a big reunion between Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard and his crew from “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” (TNG). While Brent Spiner (Data), Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and Marina Sirtis (Troi) have all previously starred in Star Trek: Picard, the rest of the stars are returning.

In addition to the stars just mentioned, Michael Dorn (Worf), LeVar Burton (Geordi La Forge) and Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher) have been confirmed for the final season of the popular sci-fi series. As showrunner Terry Matalas has now announced, the stars even had a certain say in their return.

On the Inglourious Treksperts podcast, Matalas explains that he brought the actors and actresses on board when it came time to decide how popular characters have fared since Star Trek: Nemesis.

I didn’t want to do anything she did [die Stars] didn’t want to do it… They’re all very busy [, wenn wir sie in Staffel 3 wiedersehen]. We meet them and find out what they are doing now. And some of those answers to what they’re doing now are unexpected. So I wanted them to be content and have a say… They lived through these characters. They went to the conventions. You know what stories [den Fans] are important.

The fact that Matalas attaches great importance to the stars being able to have a say is a good sign. The showrunner, who only took over in Season 2, knows what’s important to fans and seems to be trying hard to deliver a satisfying finale. We remain curious.

A start date has not yet been set, but the new episodes have already been filmed and even if we assume a start in spring 2023, it would not be unlikely that “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 will start in winter 2022.

You can while away the waiting time with other “Star Trek” releases. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is currently released on a weekly basis. We’ll tell you how you see “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” in Germany!
