  • In “Star Trek: Picard” Season 2, it slowly becomes clear: Q (John de Lancie) is dying! This solves a mystery from “Star Trek: Discovery”.
  • Admiral Vance stated in Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 that the Federation has not had contact with the Q Continuum since the 26th Century.
  • Since Qs are actually immortal, not only Q but the whole continuum seems to be affected and going to the dogs.

Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Arrived at the eighth episode, there are not many episodes left until the finale. And accordingly, some mysteries are gradually being solved, above all the mystery of Q’s (John de Lancie) strange behavior.

Already at the beginning of the season, fans suspected that Q could die. Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) has also noticed that Q is behaving strangely. In episode 8, Q has admitted to Guinan (Ito Aghayere) that he is dying and that his powers are waning.

As godlike beings, Qs cannot actually die, only at the hands of another Qs. But Q would probably have known if another member of the Q continuum was after him. Guinan quickly comes to the conclusion that the entire Q-Continuum could be affected.

In the fourth season of “Star Trek: Discovery” the disappearance of the Q Continuum was mentioned. Admiral Vance (Oded Fehr) reveals to Michael that the Federation has had no contact with the Q Continuum since the 26th century. Now we can see why that is.

However, the main action of “Star Trek: Picard” takes place in the “Star Trek” chronology in the 25th century, a hundred years before the Q-Continuum disappears. It is conceivable that the dying process of the otherwise eternally living Qs lasts a hundred years.

We’ll probably find out in the last two episodes of “Star Trek: Picard” season 2 and at the latest in “Star Trek: Picard” season 3. This year, among other “Star Trek” releases, we could also see “Star Trek: Discovery” season expect 5!
